Yam Extends Winter Bike Assesment
Motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has announced its bike riders will now be able to benefit from a winter health assessment until mid-March.
The firm has said its Winter Health Check Plus campaign has been extended until March 20th at participating dealerships. Among the elements assessed as part of the examination are the oil and filter, as well as the general condition of the bike. The check has no obligations for bikers, although if the mechanic discovers a part needs replacing those opting for the work with Yamaha will receive a ten per cent discount. "Due to the extreme weather experienced by the UK over the last few weeks, two-wheeled travel has been out of the question in most areas due to treacherous road conditions," the firm commented. "Therefore, Yamaha would like to give its customers further opportunity to take advantage of this offer by extending the campaign end date." In total, 30 areas are assessed as part of the check, which costs £79 and includes the oil and filter change. Adventure -- BEFORE Dementia |

RE: Yam Extends Winter Bike Assesment
Its a great idea if you have a newer bike, especially if you can get them to stamp the service book.
![]() its also a good way for a dealer to get some winter business and point out things that might need changing.as spin said all the checks you can do yourself i guess. What comes around goes around !

IF they stamp the book - to be honest I doubt a Yamaha dealer would do on the cheap when they can charge for a service to maintain the warrenty, even if the service is just an oil change... Really, all you have to remember are the kind of checks shown on CBT to keep the bike safe. Tyres - tread, condition, pressure Wheel bearings - condition Spokes on a wire wheel - tightness Brakes - disc condition, pad condition, not binding Forks and Shock(s) - not rusty, not leaking Head bearings - smooth turning, not 'knocking' Contol levers, brake lever and gear change pivots - lubricated and adjusted Cables - not frayed, not pinched, return smoothly Hydraulics - not leaking, not pinched or frayed Coolant - condition of hoses, radiator cap, overflow bottle Chain and Sprockets - condition, adjusted, clean, lubricated Lights and Switchgear - clean and working Horn - working Exhaust - condition Seat and Footpegs - secure Nuts and bolts generally - all tight Takes 10 - 15 mins!! Best way to do it is methodically, I like to start at the front tyre, work up to the handlebars, along the right side to the rear wheel, and back along the left side. If you like cleaning the bike, you can do it as you "detail" it Save 10% on Courses . Blog . Free Riding Tips .
